Betty is a wealthy widow living on the other side of the country. On her way to Rome, she stops in the city where Chris, the former partner of her son André, who died of AIDS in 1990, lives, and decides to pay him a surprise visit. Chris has rebuilt his life: he is married to Pierre, and they have a six-year-old son, Danny. More than two decades have passed since Betty and Chris last saw each other. Despite the time that has passed, there are resentments to heal and things to forgive. Mothers and Sons is a play about forgiveness and what happens in our lives when grief is not confronted.
