Plot

On Baron Holbach’s hunting cottage, a half naked Diderot is posing to madame Therbouche for a portrait. They are intertwined on a delicate and ingenues Tete-à-tete when Diderot’s secretary interrupts the flirting. The famous philosopher has no more time to wrote the encyclopedia’s article on moral, this being and urgent, postponable and of the upmost importance. This will be the starting point of a crazy day for Denis Diderot, who will run into constant interruption on his philosophical and sentimental tasks. With this play, Schmidt goes back to libertine comedy, adding certain philosophical paradoxes which he handles with dramatic ability. El libertino is a living homage to desires and pleasure.
